§ 01
Around 18 million international pilgrims performed Umrah in 2025, from Pakistan, Indonesia, the UK, Nigeria and beyond, and each wants to get it right. Ihram, seven circuits of Tawaf, seven laps of Sa'i, then halq or taqsir, with a du'a for each. Existing tools cover visas, prayer times or preparation before the trip, not guidance while you walk. And the Haram is a hard place for software: GPS drifts, signal drops under crowd load, and many pilgrims are older, on older phones, across many languages and four schools.
§ 02
| L1 · Research | Studied the market and the apps pilgrims already use, mapped every Umrah rite, and planned around GPS drift, dead signal and older users. Eight product decisions were settled before any code, from content sourcing to offline scope. | Market research, competitor review | Pain-point map and eight-decision brief |
| L2 · Design | Designed the Umrah engine, where geofencing tracks step and circuit and surfaces its du'a with a manual tap as fallback, plus daily tools and a Scholar CMS with madhhab tags, single or dual review and a geofence editor. | Figma, geofencing, GPS | 48 app screens, 91 CMS screens, design system |
| L3 · Review & Launch | Reviewed the built CMS, not just the mockups, pinning 29 notes onto screenshots for developers. Designed the sadaqah page, store screenshots and social posts alongside the app for launch day. | Figma, build QA | Annotated build review and launch kit |
§ 03
Unbland designed 48 app screens and 91 CMS screens, covering every state from language pick to night view and a completed Umrah. Every ritual downloads before the trip and works with zero signal. English, Arabic and Urdu are ready at launch, and pilgrims pick their madhhab at sign-up. The interface uses 44px tap targets, four tabs and 12:1 ink-on-sand contrast for older eyes. Phase 1 is in progress, ending in a field test with real pilgrims, while the sadaqah page and public ledger are ready to fund it.
